The Future Belongs to Them
Justice begins in the classroom—because education is the pathway to liberation. To truly transform our communities, we must uplift our educators and build a strong, intentional support system around them.
Educators Advancement Team (EAT)
The Educators Advancement Team (EAT) is an eight-month fellowship that invests in educators as the architects of liberation. Designed for five educators per CARE DC chapter, EAT fosters reflection, innovation, and collective growth.
At its core, EAT equips educators to be justice-seekers with futuristic approaches, preparing young people to navigate—and shape—the world ahead of them. Participants gain creative, locally rooted lesson plans that honor culture, inspire curiosity, and nurture critical thinking.
Educators will:
* lead Expedition Day capstones,
* attend the Black Literacy Matters Conference,
* earn 14 OSSE credits,
* receive $1,000 to expand their impact—turning vision into lasting change
* and harness AI tools to boost creativity, enhance efficiency, and help close the digital divide—ensuring their learners have access to a future-ready education.
EAT is more than professional development—it’s a movement that sees the classroom as a launchpad for justice, joy, and the future our students deserve.

What if joy, justice, and imagination were the foundation of every lesson?
“Being sponsored by CARE DC to attend the Black Literacy Matters Conference was life-giving. The bonds built, the knowledge gained, and the shared passion for literacy and justice reminded me why our cohort work matters…this is more than a gift!” - Ms. Hodge, Anacostia High School Educator
