Hopes and Dreams:

Hopes and Dreams develops the leadership of families who are too often excluded from decision‑making, equipping them with the tools, experience, and vision to drive change. When families lead, students thrive. Schools improve. The community grows stronger. The economy becomes more inclusive. And our children step into futures full of freedom and opportunity.

How We Do It
We build a network of families at each CARE DC school—currently most active in CARE Anacostia—and gather monthly.

These Family Meetings focus on:

• Mutual aid to meet immediate needs and strengthen community bonds.

• Capacity-building is our safe space to laugh, heal, dream, and grow—while sharing ideas, tools, and the power we already have to make change.

• Justice work that addresses systemic inequities impacting our schools.

• Togetherness that fosters trust, solidarity, and collective action.

Because justice is love. Justice is care. And justice is building power—together.
